Valerie Tyson was born August 1, in Hollywood, Florida, and has been an Entertainer most of her life. Showing an interest in music early in life, she started singing in school plays and musicals. When Valerie was 12, she wanted to be an opera singer, or perform in Broadway musicals, however, that soon changed when an interest in Pop music emerged.

As a child, there were so many musical influences, such as: Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, and Gladys Knight, all these artists remain, to this day, a major influence in her life and singing style. One thing comes to mind, when Valerie heard the song, “Once You Get Started,” by Chaka Khan and Rufus, she knew then and there that R & B Pop music would be the music she wanted to perform as well.

Valerie has been playing with various R & B, Pop Jazz, Show Bands throughout the South Florida area, as well as other states. In all instances, winning the hearts, love and respect of her audience.

Considered one of the areas best female vocalists, Valerie has done lead and background recording projects, and has opened shows for several name acts in the country.

Never having had formal training, Valerie considers it a blessing and feels very fortunate to have the “gift of song.” She has a style of her own and it is a delight to hear her sing and watch her perform.
